I would like to extend my extreme gratitude to the Hair Fairies of New York City.

My daughter who is 6 years old had contacted lice and of course my first reaction was of embarrassment, that I was dirty, and wasn’t sure who to turn to as I had no knowledge of lice. My daughter’s school nurse had suggested to go to the pharmacy and buy an over the counter treatment. I did the treatment and in 7 days repeated it. Each time pulling out the nits not knowing how small and microscopic that they were.

I sprayed my house, car seat, bedding, stuffed animals anything that had some type of fur and I thought I did a good job. I even had my husband vacuum the mattress which the thought of him doing that was funny. I ask the nurse to check my daughter once as week as I was very concerned, and she was so wonderful and did. Every time seeing no more nits. So we thought. I'm going to say roughly like 2 weeks later I saw nits again in my daughters hair and I went to the school nurse and she agreed. Having no knowledge again I wasn’t really sure what to do I was so upset crying distraught thinking what did I do wrong my poor daughter. I did another treatment. Another week or so went by and I saw the nits again. The nurse suggestion I call the doctor and when I did it was his day off.{ I will say this that was my lucky day. } I called a few of my friends who cut hair and explained what happened and nobody knew what to do. They were all afraid to help with the fear of getting lice themselves. I didn’t know where to turn. I called up the nurse and was beside myself and she suggested to me what about the Fairies. I will be honest at first I thought she was suggesting I was dirty and that it was like a cleaning service to come and clean my house which was very insulted. As she continued to tell me about the Hair Fairies I was getting very overwhelmed and said okay I will call and never really thought I would. My thoughts were to actually bring her in public what will they think. I did call though and I will say it was the best phone call I have ever made in my life. From the moment Mary Anne picked up the phone and said hello I felt so much better. She listened to me cry and explain my story and she explained so much to me that I couldn’t believe the patience the professionalism the knowledge just a wonderful feeling that she gave me and this was just on the phone. I was very lucky she had an appointment that day and before I had a chance to think twice we were on a train to New York City. When we got there I wasn’t sure what to expect there were people there and I was so overwhelmed. All these thoughts were going in and out of my head but my main concerned of course was my daughter. Mary Anne greeted my family and made us feel so much better and she talked to us about everything she answered every question she had and was so supportive that I cried again. By now you know I'm a crier. One of the Fairies came over introduced herself and the next thing I know her and my daughter were talking like they were friends for years. I lookayed over and my daughter who cried her eyes out from the treatments had the biggest smile on her face and right there I knew I was in the right place and made the right decision. Mary Ann talked some more with us and then another client came in so I asked if I could go by my daughter and without hesitation she said of course, The fairy was all ready discussing to my husband what she was doing and when I walked over said anything I wanted to know she would explain any questions and I cant tell you how much better I felt. The place was absolutely immaculate and kid oriented. My daughter played game boy there watched TV played games all while sitting in the chair. I can not stress how wonderful this place is. We were talking and my daughter said she wanted to live there work there and from a 6 year old I was amazed how comfortable she was and sat as long as she did. I can not tell you how glad I was I went there. Not that I wouldn’t wish lice on anyone, but I have my daughter’s nurse at school and doctor’s office. How wonderful the Hair Fairies are. They made me understand and every time I asked another question they answered and I was happy. It’s a very great feeling when you’re upset for someone who doesn’t know you and within a few minutes make you feel like you have known them for years. I felt so comfortable calm and they really made my family feel okay. Actually when my daughter was done we didn’t want to leave. I would like to thank them all and thank you that there is a place to go when you need help and that it is okay. I will tell anyone and everyone I know about Hair Fairies.

They really are fairies and I’m glad my nurse new about them. From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much Hair Fairies.
