Dear Hair Fairies,
We were recently overwhelmed by the news that our daughter was found to have head lice at a routine check at her school. Indeed, the school was in the midst of a rather large infestation discovered upon routine head checks there. Initially, we tried to manage the problem ourselves, using over the counter products from drug stores and relying on “wives tales” about how to get rid of the lice as well as how to rid them from our household. Those did not seem to work, since the head checks a week later didn’t seem to show any progress in ridding our daughter from the problem. We had spent so much time and effort on laundry, manipulation of sheets and towels and isolation of the problem (our poor daughter!!!) that we didn’t know what else to do.
